Frequently Asked Questions

LEROC is a fusion of jive and latin dance styles, great fun and easy to learn. LEROC - aka 'modern jive' - is one of the most popular forms of partner dancing in the UK today. More than just a dance class, it's a great social night out too! Check out a brief video of LEROC dancing

You can if you wish, but it's not necessary because the classes are organised in such a way that you'll practice with many different partners throughout the evening. Come on your own / bring a partner / group of friends, it doesn't matter.

It's generally advisable to wear shoes with a non-grippy sole that allow you to turn, spin and move around easily on the dance floor. Also light clothing which allows you to move freely and keep cool. If you really work up a sweat you might want a spare top / deodorant.

No. LEROC isn't run as a course, so there's no booking or enrolling to be done. You simply turn up, ready for the start of the beginner class. Every week a number of complete beginners turn up, hence we always run a beginners class.

A midweek class night is either £6.00 or £7.00 (depending on venue) for the whole session, which includes the beginner class, the intermediate class (or beginners coaching session) and dance practice time (the 'freestyle' session). With all the fun - and the social and health benefits thrown in - we think this is a great value night out!

Complete beginners, people with two left feet, in fact practically anyone aged 18 or over who's reasonably fit can attend a LEROC night. If you're unsure about your fitness please consult your GP.

The music played on a LEROC night is an uplifting selection covering many different musical genres, including Modern Pop, Rock, Latin, Disco, Soul, Swing, and Rock & Roll.

Yes, this is mainly for the purposes of our insurance and for your health and safety. There is currently no charge for membership cards, though there is if you need to replace it. Your membership does not need renewing - it's good until cancelled.
