Frequently Asked Questions
What is LeRoc?
LeRoc is a fusion of jive and latin dance styles, great fun and easy to learn. LeRoc - aka Modern jive - is one of the most popular forms of partner dancing in the UK today. More than just a dance class, it's a great social night out too!
Do I need a partner?
It's not necessary to bring a partner because the classes are organised in such a way that you'll dance with many different partners throughout the evening. But if you want to bring a partner or a group of friends, do!
What should I wear?
We recommend shoes with a non-grippy sole that allow you to turn, spin and move around easily on the dance floor. Also light clothing which allows you to move freely and keep cool. Gents may want to bring a spare t-shirt (& deodorant!).
Is it necessary to book in advance?
No. LeRoc isn't run as a course, so there's no booking or enrolling to be done. You simply turn up, ready for 8pm. Every week a number of complete beginners turn up, hence we always run a beginners class.
What does it cost?
The £7.00 admission fee is for the whole evening, and includes the beginner class, the intermediate class (or beginners coaching session) and the freestyle session, representing excellent value for money.
Do I have to become a member?
At present we do not require you to become a member.
Who can attend a LeRoc night?
Complete beginners, people with two left feet, in fact practically anyone aged 18 or over who's reasonably fit can attend a LeRoc night. If you're unsure about your fitness please consult your GP.
What kind of music is played?
The music played on a LeRoc night is a fantastic, uplifting selection covering many different styles and eras. Enrique Iglesias, Caro Emerald, Michael Buble, Elvis Presley, Chic ... to name but a few.
